Facebook Custom Tab Images Reflect Your Brand and Blog

I’ve noticed my traffic from Facebook has steadily increased over the last few months.  I have new followers, they are coming to my blog from Facebook and they are staying for a while.

So I got to thinking that I should try to make their Facebook experience as helpful and interesting as I possibly can.

I have been sharing many posts, images and information about being a WAHM, blogger and affiliate marketer.  And I try to engage with my audience as best I can.  Facebook has become such an enjoyable place for me to visit and I hope the same goes for my followers.

With all that valuable content being shared on Facebook I got to wondering if I should make my Facebook Page a more pleasant place to visit by making it pleasing to the eye.

Earlier this year I had a web designer create a Facebook cover for me.  But I kept looking at those tabs right under the cover and didn’t like the way they were presented.  They were not uniform.  They were default images chosen by the app creator.  They didn’t represent me, my blog and my page.

So I decided to change those images and make them custom to reflect my blog and my brand.

Making the Facebook Custom Tab Images

I set out to make custom images.

Needed:

  • Image 111 x 74 pixels
  • Photo editor like Photoshop or Gimp to make the image 111×74.  (I think PicMonkey may be able to crop a larger image to make it that size but I use Photoshop so I am not sure.)
  • The fonts and colors of your blog or business to match the look and feel to your Facebook page.

Save the images to your computer, you will be uploading them to the Facebook app tabs.

How to Add the Images to the App Tabs

You can change the image of any apps you added that allow you to.  But you cannot change the images for “Notes”, “Likes” “Events” or “Links”, Facebook will not allow it.  For the “Photos” tab box the latest image uploaded will appear.

To change images for other tabs:

  1. Go to your page.  On the right side of your apps you will see a small box with or without a number and a down arrow (if you have 4 or less tabs you will not have a number there.)  Click that small box.
  2. Head over to the app in which you want to change the image, click the small pencil symbol at the top right corner, a drop down menu appears.  Scroll down to “edit settings”, click.
  3. A box pops up.  It will say “custom tab Image”, click “change” right next to it.
  4. Now upload the 111 x 74 image you created.  When you see it appear simply head back to your page and it will be set for that app.
  5. See the results.

Tabs You May Want to Include

There should definitely include a tab for your newsletter.  Other popular tabs to include:

  • Books you have written
  • Stuff you sell (I have my WAHM Amazon Store)
  • Link to your Twitter or Pinterest
  • Your YouTube channel
  • Deals or coupons
  • Anything that is important and helpful to your readers

To add a custom app simply do a Facebook search for “Static iFrame tab”.  You can add anything from here!!

There are a few.  I use the one that looks like this when you arrive:

Or simply click here for more Facebook Apps.  But the one above gives you more freedom to customize.
